And Then it Rained on Malcolm

When a rainstorm ruins all of Malcolm’s plans, he yells up a storm of his own until a sudden idea helps him see his day in a whole new light. Pretty soon, Malcolm, his dog, and some very enthusiastic worms are splashing, sloshing, and squirming their way through a rainy day adventure.

My debut picture book, written by the talented Paige Feurer. Paige, a children’s book author and child psychologist, shares her insights at paigefeurer.com. And Then it Rained on Malcolm found its place in the literary world through Sky Pony Press. The story revolves around Malcolm, a boy whose sunny day plans get dampened by rain, and explores how he adapts to the unexpected. Crafting visuals that complemented Paige’s narrative was an absolute delight. I particularly enjoyed the unexpected transformation of a simple mention of worms into a significant and endearing personality within the storyline.

And Then it Rained on Malcolm was a finalist for an Alberta Literary Award.
